The Dortmunder Volksbank is affiliated with the umbrella association of cooperative banks in Germany, the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR). The bank's deposit insurance is also organized through this.

The range of services offered by the Dortmunder Volksbank is based on four pillars: the branch bank with a direct contact person in the branch, the advisory bank for special topics, the online bank via online banking and the self-service bank via ATMs and self -service terminals. The total assets from these four areas are EUR 4,318 billion (as of 2011).

story

On February 7, 1899, craftsmen and traders founded a cooperative commercial bank, which had total assets of one million marks for its tenth anniversary. As a result of inflation, the balance sheet total was inflated to a whopping trillion marks - after the devaluation of the Rentenmark, a total of 19 pfennigs of equity remained.

In 1965 the name of the bank was changed to Dortmunder Volksbank and in 1971 Volksbank Castrop-Rauxel was taken over and continued as a branch. In 1985 the merger with Volksbank Hörde followed and a year later with Volksbank Dortmund-Asseln. In 1995 there was another merger with the bank for civil servants and salaried employees and in 2003 with the Volksbank Unna Schwerte.

Deposit insurance

The deposit protection of all deposits at the Dortmunder Volksbank is guaranteed by the protection scheme of the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR). In the 70-year history of this deposit insurance, not a single investor has ever lost a single cent of their deposits.
